Profile Information

What I do:
I’m an artist working with place, time and ‘digging down’ into the depths of things. I like collaborative projects that bring together artists with people from different backgrounds and interests, and trying to build participatory encounters that last well beyond a single moment.
A little more about me:
Because of the language and culture of North Wales, and maybe because I like quirky, gritty, stormy things, I live at the foot of Yr Wyddfa, in the Llanberis pass.

I use video, installation, photography, frottage, drawing, print and landscape-scale interventions to explore psychological, cultural and physical terrains. My work often starts with a particular event or object or fragment and the psychology associated with them (such as epiphanies, loss).

Before becoming a full time artist, I got a degree in psychology and worked for 20 years as a facilitator of community engagement and conflict resolution, specializing in environmental conflicts. I hope soon to be fluent in Welsh. And to somehow have my naturalisation recognised.
Location:
Nantperis, North Wales
Projects I’m working on:
Digging Down: Fragmented Totalities. Waleslab Project in collaboration with Chris. Dugrenier

My Body Welsh – a Rite of Passage?

A little troupe of members from TEAM took up Rachel Rosen’s offer to see My Body Welsh by Tara Robinson and Steffan Donnelly last Thursday at Galeri in Caernarfon. The play is a monologue, exploring ‘the role storytelling plays in constructing national identity’ and it is BRILLIANT (and it’s not just me saying that – see Wales Arts Review for a thorough and eloquent review ).…

Day 4 - Digging Down: The Sharing!

18.55. I was chatting to Simon Coates, dweller in the caban in the garden, thinking it was 1800hrs, that I really should go and get changed, wondering why people seemed to be turning up so early ... the danger of a stopped clock. Simon gently pointed out that it was in fact 18.55. I dashed home, changed, ran up to meet the guests at the barn car park. Time has a funny way of…

With many, many thanks, Louise, our wise and wonderful Dramaturg!....

Waleslab R&D: Day 3 (stagger through!)

All our ideas on little notes. Too much, much too, too much.

We knew it, really. But wanted to try. Put it into a structure.

It’s R&D after all (hold that thought)

Typed it up.

Did stagger through. We gave it a good shot, some flowed, some was beautiful, we missed the guests, we giggled and relaxed, held it…

Hi Lindsay - yes hoping I'll be able to offer some dramaturgical support to your fascinating sounding project. I'm afraid I'm away in London next week until Thursday afternoon. Might you be available on Friday? I have to go to work in Pembrokeshire in the afternoon. Hope we can meet. Best, Louise

Hi Lindsey,

Welcome to the TEAM group, great to have a new member on board! Keep a look out as we are always hosting new opportunities and events! You can also access our Facebook page via the TEAM community page.

I am currently planing much more TEAM events in North Wales, developing a North Wales hub. This is kicking off with Workout & Skill Swap in Bangor. Would be great if you could come along.

If you have anything you'd like to ask please don't hesitate in contacting myself via community or laurathomas@nationaltheatrewales.org
