Hi Rebecca - did you get my email....wasn't sure if I'd got the right email address? Let me know if not, and I'll resend it.
Hope all is well. Exciting new post for you? Lou x
I'm sorry Rebecca, your message about Forever has only just got through to me - my fault , change of email address which is now sorted. I will get on to it straight away. And Gladiator. Sorry you can't make it.
give my best to Steve.
PS my new company Chainworks are planning to do More Than Just a Game this summer.
Hi Rebecca, am sure we met a few times around the ESC years when I did Romeo and Juliet for Malachi Bogdanov. Glad to hear all is well with you
best Wishes
Louise
Hi Becs, if you get to Ghent (they say Chhhhhent) check out the STAM Museum, whose ethic is that the city is it's own greatest exhibit. There's a large interactive map which you walk on. Sounds like the probably city has a lot of joined-up thinking if it also funds Victoria Deluxe.
It also has the best B&B on the planet, called Limited.co.
Ace.
'As a social-artistic project Victoria Deluxe produces several creations in the city of Ghent each year. Every time we give different (groups of) people a voice during an artistic working process, going towards a story of their own. The artistic way of working is closely linked to the social dynamics of our soceity. We always start from (groups of) people who have a difficult time in society, or who are excluded in some way. The theme in the way we work is that we start from the qualities and strengths of the people we work with. The people who participate are always closely involved in the start, the creation and the result of each trajectory. Not agreeing with some political tendencies we do believe that we can make / change society. Under the flag 'power to imagination' we stimulate working- and thinking-processes that try to reinforce our system of democracy.'
Ghent's not really that far away, and, if you don't know it, it is a fabulous place. It's hard to get a great idea of what Victoria Deluxe's output is like from their website. I'm likely to get invited back to the Operastudio there, and if I do, I'll do a bit more sniffing around for you.
Regards, Ace.
Hope you've been able to relax a little this weekend.
