It all began with NTW Summer Camp!

Kirsty and I met on Wales Lab Summer Camp 2014. Over coffee, gazing out at the sea, we talked about our work, about being artists, bravery, failure and fear. I told her about a little idea I was noodling away at. A one woman show for a family audience inspired by a children's book called The Paper Bag Princess. (Best children's book ever!) I loved Kirsty's design work and the idea of her creating a puppet 'Paper Bag Girl' and a world of paper was very exciting.

We took the idea to Wales Lab who supported our first Research and Development. They introduced us to a place in North Wales called 'The land'. A ‘Dangerous Playground with a raw, energised, untamed feel about it. It was an overwhelmed, challenging and excited place to be, full of potential, possibility, story and adventure. The idea of creating a world with pallets, tires, tubes, rope and mud that can be manipulated by cast and audience was a very exciting possibility. Risk and adventure is slowly being designed out of children's lives. Can we use our theatre practice to design it back in?

Yes! Yes we can!

The Kickstarter

Basically we have scratched the idea. The Images are from the scratch. The energy and creativity of the young adults building and making the world of the show was incredible. Then they were engaged, alive and connected to the story in a way i haven't experienced before because it all came from them.

This is an outdoor show and we want to build a venue to accommodate it. This will create a really immersive experience where families can safely explore taking risks and play and it will also allow us to reach communities who don't have access to the arts.

Kirsty has sketched out what this will look like (see below). If your able to support it with money awesome! Thank you there are some really unique thank you gifts. If not please share on your social media. Facebook the link, tweet the link, share, share, share. If you know any high profile folk or have any PR contacts you think would love this project and be happy to shout out about it get in touch!
