Bradley Manning goes on trial tomorrow accused of the biggest leak of classified information in US military history. The next day is his birthday. Just as we start work on The Radicalisation of Bradley Manning - NTW18, the shape of the case against him and his defence will get clearer.

While we read the first drafts of Tim Price's script and work on how we're going to create the play, Bradley's situation and the whirlwind of political change his alleged actions have brought about are unfolding all around us. Tomorrow, the world will focus on him.

There'll be a torrent of information in the media and public conversations about Bradley and his story in the next couple of days. If you're new to the story, check out this video.

I'm multiplatform designer for the play, and have been doing a lot of thinking about what we can do as part of the show to bring Bradley's case and our story about his time in Wales to a wider audience using online platforms.

I'll be sharing more of this journey in the months to come, as will Tim, John McGrath (Directing) and others working on the show, but to start, I thought, let's just really think about Bradley Manning himself - his life and his actions, how the world has reacted and what the the US military will do to him.

We have developed an exciting new website as part of our work around Love Steals Us from Loneliness, the seventh of National Theatre Wales' new play, which opens in Hobo's Rock Club in Bridgend on the 7th October.

Our Bridgend is based on Google Maps, and enables anyone to add a flag to the map, and share their feelings about and experiences of that place using words, pictures or video. There are six 'themes' you can choose from... love or hate, light or dark, us or them.

We've already had nearly a hundred people share an experience about a place in Bridgend, and it's fun to just take a look around the map and see what people have shared. Places where they fell in love, places that had a special meaning to them in their lives, places that have scared them and places that had a special meaning for them as a group, or a family. Just click on the icons in the map to see what people have said about that place.

We'd love your help in getting a link to anyone you know from Bridgend, and if you're on Facebook or Twitter, please click on the sharing buttons at the top of the site!

We're launching a new feature called groups on the National Theatre Wales site today. Here's some of our thinking behind it.

This community now has nearly 500 members from all over Wales and the world. We're a diverse bunch in the theatre scene - we have writers, actors, directors, enthusiasts, musicians, other companies, people "formerly known as the audience" and more.

This community now has nearly 500 members from all over Wales and the world. We're a diverse bunch in the theatre scene - we have writers, actors, directors, enthusiasts, musicians, other companies, people "formerly known as the audience" and more.

Our aim with this site is to encourage good conversation among likeminded people. With only the one central place for all discussions, it could start to get a bit noisy. So we think it would serve us well to have smaller communities within the larger network.

You can still do everything that was possible before. For instance, we are still using the main forum for general interest discussions. But now, joining a group is a way to focus your interest and conversation down to something more detailed and specific. You can think of a group as being like a room at a party. If you're familiar with Facebook groups, the groups on this site behave in a similar way.

Do you run your own theatre company? If you want a presence for your company on this network, starting a group is the best way. One benefit is you can also message everyone in your group with news and upcoming events. People who see your group can join immediately without needing any extra admin from you. Alternatively you can invite people to join your group.

If you have any questions or queries about creating and running a group, get in touch with myself or Carl.

Enjoy!Pointers and requeststag:community.nationaltheatrewales.org,2009-05-20:3152760:BlogPost:11382009-05-20T10:00:00.000ZTom Beardshawhttps://community.nationaltheatrewales.org/profile/TomBeardshaw
