When was the last time you were transported?

Together we will go on a journey across continents and years, down city streets, through deserts, over oceans, asking questions that echo through history.

Transporter is a bold, spellbinding show, born out of a belief in the power of words to transport. Just one performer in an empty space, and an audience. An act of shared imagination. A kind of magic that happens...when you simply listen to a story.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_O8hgwfUdYI

This is the story of a girl called Maya. A girl who is always thirteen. A girl who is always on the move. A never-ending search for the last safe place on Earth.

Maya stands on the cusp of yet another beginning, at the threshold of a new house in a new city.

From this everyday moment an epic story is woven.

Maya is both ordinary and extraordinary; schoolgirl, time traveller, shaman.

She tells of classroom conflicts and flights across deserts.

She talks of ice cream dreams and thwarted revolutions.

These stories weave together and the local and global and the personal and political collide.

A solo performance for everyone aged 10 and above.

Developed through Theatr Iolo's artist development programme, Platfform, Transporter was written in Newport, where conversations with local young people inspired a story of universal and timeless resonance.
