Bare Fiction Magazine - Cardiff Launch

Host your event at Gwdihw and you’re off to a good start gwdihw.co.uk/--it may translate as owl but Gwdihw is synonymous with good times. Any event I’ve ever been to there is embellished by its charm and innate vibe. Even non-events become one – the times I stop in on the way home for no particular reason other than to stop in and stay a while, make my day.

The purr of a…

Dorian Gray ready for take off...

So, we've come to the end of tech week, it's almost time for our preview tomorrow. Tickets are selling really well for the whole run, which is very exciting and promises to be a just reward for the hours of sweat put in at the top of ladders, behind light and sound boards and on the stage. It will be great to share this story with so many people, and I even have some friends…

The Ballad of Ivor Jones, WalesLab 2014, blog post 2

Although this project is grounded in thorough research of BHC it is not, nor does it seek to be, documentary or pure historical re-telling. As Found&Lost our work maps realms characterised not only by things falling apart, but also by the stirring and quickening of things coming to life.…

Rhayader, how can I join you?

As a total outsider, being Dutch and having never been to Wales, my first and big question was; what is Rhayader like? When I joined the Stich&Bitch club and the local bingo my question right away changed into; how can I become a real woman of Rhayader? How can you become a real insider if you are born in a totally different place. And of course all this comes from the deep wish to be part of the grouw – to belong. How do you fit in if you are an outsider? What is the process to…

radical polish director at work in Cardiff

I thought people should be made aware that Mariusz Trelinski, the Polish theatre, opera and film director is currently staging two shows at WNO. His work is poetic, bold and highly contemporary, and grounded in a very strong process. His staging of Manon Lescaut fights the sentimental and romantic tendancies in Puccini's score to brilliant effect and his new production of Boulevard Solitude, which is a C20th jazz inspired piece, is 1.5 hrs of great theatre.
