On Friday the 28th of February at the Sherman Theatre, I attended Joanna Young’s finale piece of her trilogy which was entitled RECALL.
Having met Joanna the previous week and laughing with her that I wasn’t really a huge fan of dance theatre I was instantly drawn to the idea that this was her third show to round off her piece, I was really intrigued to see her grand finale. I also completely loved the design of the…

Not only was it an opportunity to meet with a lovely bunch of actors of all ages and backgrounds; it was a treat to be taken through the basics of being an ensemble player by the director John McGrath.
Apart from being intelligent and intuitive, John has a calm, relaxed style which encouraged all of of us to be bold and creative, while being a team player.
I had forgotten how satisfying this process can be and…

La Traviata – WNO
Wales Millenium Centre
The glamour and tradition of opera is celebrated in WNOs only ‘staple’ offering this season. La Traviata, an opera which fits perfectly within the Fallen Women theme, introduces Violetta, a frivolous, flirtatious courtesan whose lavish life is interrupted by the young, persistent Alfredo, who persuades her to embrace a monogamous existence with him.
Despite her resistance, Violetta lets her heart guide her…

Last year Mercury Theatre Wales showcased their tour-de-force production SPANGLED throughout the nation. Exploring the underground club culture of the 90s the immersive, promenade performance really caught the audience up in the action. I myself described it as ‘a truly original and innovative piece of work that is sure to leave the audience with a smile on their face and a sudden desire to don their best shell suit.’ Actor Lee Mengo was also nominated for a Theatre Critics of Wales…
