New group?

Morning everyone

Am re-posting this just in case anyone interested missed it at the end of my post yesterday!

Would anyone be interested in starting up a group on here to discuss children's theatre, literature, TV, film etc.?  It might be a way for like-minded creatives to get together, as I've noticed quite a few people on here write for kids, visit schools etc., as I do.  Let me know via comments on this if you're interested and I'll set it…

People's Book Prize

Hello again everyone, pleased to have joined such an active creative community.  Have sent my writing sample in to NT Wales so fingers crossed for me as a writer for the stage!  Meanwhile, I've put my children's book writer's hat back on and am doing my best to spread the word that my first novel for children, Childish Spirits, has been nominated for the People's Book Prize!  It's a ghost story for the 8-12s and was my assessed work for my Master's in Creative Writing in 2013. …

Why stop at 5 when you can have 10!

Thanks for all the fantastic responses to our Year 5 announcements last week.  We've really enjoyed launching our new programme in such a unique way, and we're glad you all seem to have enjoyed our week of video gifts!

But why stop there?  As well as the five large-scale productions we told you about last week, there are lots of other things going on at NTW, including five more projects which will be central to our work for the year.

Here are the details:…

Bringing sound and taste: Sam Fox (Kiln Theatre) and Gert Vos (Oren)

At last I've got my team together for my Waleslab project!  And I think it's looking so exciting, and so international: Sam Fox (from South Wales) is joining Chris. Dugrenier (from France) and I to spend 5 days developing "Digging Down: Fragmented Totalities".  I met Sam last weekend, before going to her her fantastic show, Lady Gogo Goch (which also started as a Waleslab…

Accomplished Actors Sought for 'Tent of Xerxes'

Tent of Xerxes, a brand new production company based in Swansea, are looking for two exceptional actors for the parts of Dan and Paul in The Body of an American, by Dan O'Brien.

A biographical docu-drama, the play, with a cast of two, nevertheless demands much of its actors as over twenty characters are brought to life during the meeting of the play's author, and the Pulitzer Prize winning photographer Paul Watson. Drammatically, the play revolves around the…

Half way through - or are we?

Great to get such wonderful feedback to the first three of our Year 5 shows over the past few days.  I have to say, even though I've known what is in each of the video gifts, I've still been delighted, and sometimes a bit surprised (I'm not very good at waking up so anything at 8am surprises me) to get the gifts on my phone each morning.

Thursday is a little different in style - I hope you enjoy it, it's one of my favourites.

And yes - at three of five we're now more than half…

Settling into life at The National Theatre Studio

My first two months as Resident Director at the National Theatre Studio has flown by and I wanted to take a moment to reflect and share the experience so far. This opportunity at the Studio has been made possible through a partnership with National Theatre Wales and will last until July. It’s an incredible place to be based as a director who describes herself as a magpie – open to begging, stealing and borrowing to serve the work.

The Studio has been described as the Laboratory…

Life in a Small-Scale Theatre Company...Brief Encounters

Well, we have pretty much reached the end of bookings for our Autumn tour of Brief Encounters. We open in Pontardawe on the 10th of September and close in Itton on the 27th - in between, we go as far north as Pwllheli and as far west as Rhosygilwen. If you look on the website, www.lighthouse-theatre.co.uk, you can look at all of the dates. Looking forward to it now.

Oh, Albert - you are awful!…

Hello....

We are looking for women aged 40+ who would like to get involved with NTW new show Mother Courage and her children.
