As I sat in the newly refurbished Savoy Theatre in Tonyrefail, ready to watch the Avant Theatre group perform their current production of Love Labours Won, I was a little unsure of what to expect. I knew nothing about the play other than it was in the style of Shakespeare and as much as I love the playwright's work, during my time I've seen my fair share of badly performed Shakespeare plays. BUT, I am happy to say I was very pleasantly surprised!

The performance of Love Labours Won on March 3^rd in the Savoy Theatre, Tonyrefail was excellent, the cast showed a great deal of enthusiasm and professionalism. It was amazing to think that I was watching this production in the street on which I live. Seeing a play with Shakespearian type dialogue set in a modern Valleys club setting and with contemporary costume made the play that much more relevant to everyone watching.

We undertook our own sort of Return Journey last week. To New York. Having spent a great deal of my twenties there it was a fascinating insight into how much the city has changed over the last ten years. Amazing.
