Wales In Edinburgh/ Fringe 2015

Really keen to know who else has Wales In Edinburgh funding from ACW for Fringe this year? Also if anyone else is taking a show in addition to that?

Be great to be in touch and support the Welsh/ Wales-based contingent!

Digging Down R&D Week, Day 1

The exploration gets underway with sounds, words, drawing, stories, questions, traces ... recapping, layering, lists, ideas for tomorrow:  a sense of the shape of things emerging, in pieces... The day ends with a list of what we do know, or things that we think we will develop further, and what we don't (yet) know. It is encouraging. We recap with Louise. We…

Sara McGaughey said they almost look expensive and I know what she means.  Have any of you seen the "Who wants to be a billionaire' show.  I feel like a russian nouveau riche billionaire in my fab blingy billionaire red boots.  Well my chracter Yvette does :-)

Boots blog

I went to my friend Sharon's cafe at Merthyr bus station and she made me double egg and chips and a cup of tea, fantastic.  We walked back to the labour club together so Sharon could pick up some flyers to put in the cafe.  Everyone loves Yvettes boots…

#WalesLab - A DIY Manual for Falling in Love with Objects

I'm very excited that in less than a month I'll be starting my WalesLab project A DIY Manual for Falling in Love with Objects. Normally identifying as a visual artist I'm excited about developing as a 'Live' artist.

For the last year I have been finding new ways to talk with ‘things’. I had a date with a plate, a holiday romance with a lighthouse and a rebound relationship with a paint roller. During my WalesLab project I will be starting to develop a ‘how to’ guide…

TELL A TALE STORYTELLING WORKSHOPS

I am thrilled to be a member of the National Theatre Wales's Rethinking Education group. In February 2015 I facilitated storytelling workshops themed, Tell A Tale. These workshops aimed to  empower refugees and asylum seekers from Oasis Cardiff through the promotion of self-confidence and self-esteem. The workshops also aimed to promote the participation of these marginalised migrants in the enjoyment of the arts and to educate, entertain and empower them. What…

Hannah - Community Cast

For the last two weeks I have been working with National Theatre Wales on the Mother Courage Project. It is a show of an all-talented, all-female cast who I have had the pleasure of meeting and watching them work. As I am a follower of National Theatre Wales on twitter, I got to hear about this opportunity on the World Wide Web; fantastic! What a great way to get the people of Merthyr Tydfil involved in the more learned and cultured world of theatre, to relate to issues alive today as much as… Continue

Meet our Chorus - Mother Courage

Meet our lovely Chorus

On Thursday myself and Leah Crossley found out what it meant for the ladies of Merthyr to be involved in Mother Courage. After our two hour singing session of the raucous and the beautiful we interviewed some of our lovely cast to see why they've decided to get involved, what it means for Merthyr and why you should all come and see it.

Merthyr Courage

I don't believe it, I just did my first 'scenette' OFF SCRIPT infront of Nicola Reynolds and Emily Butler.  I tried to forget they were there.  I did this by shutting my eyes which unfortunately resulted in me bumping into the props and set. Ah well c'est la vie. Any bruises will be added to the ones already on my body from dancing  with the trolleys

Book Nook comes to Cardiff

Literature Wales and I have just set up a Book Nook for Cardiff. The idea is simple: to bring readers together to share recommendations and make connections.

Unlike a book club where you all have to read the same book, the Book Nook will have no set text, no homework. Instead, you can bring along whatever you have been reading - or seeing in theatres etc - and tell interested people about the good ones. It's about…
