Creating an image for #NTW19 Little Dogs

As creative designers working on National Theatre Wales's visual material, we often get asked how we create an image, what the process was, and how does an idea arrive at a finished visual. We've documented the process here of creating the recent image for Little Dogs.

Each project starts with an initial meeting with the creative team... including the production director or script writer, this session allows us to get an understanding of the production, the story, the values,…

Abandoned Brothers - Transforming trauma through creative expression?

We hear about military veterans on the news, the violence, the suffering, and the loss - but we don’t hear the personal side, up-close, from those who are going through it right now. We, Re-Live are hearing these stories right now in Chapter. They are moving, shocking, sometimes lonely sometimes funny stories. We are entering into a collaborative process of shaping them, guiding them into one story which we will present to an audience....artists, military men and family members working…

Pornography

Directed by: Mathilde Lopez

Written by: Simon Stephens

Seen at: Chapter Arts Centre, 27th April

An intermingling of stories hinting at deep passions and perverse thoughts, Pornography allows us to glimpse the inner transgressive nature of a diverse selection of Londoners, during the summer of 2005.

The effective use of the senses really helped bring this piece to life and engulf the audience in the moment, with sounds not just coming from…

Assembly 03 Mid Wales winner, after an amazing finale!

After an amazing and very close finish to voting both online and through written petitions for Assembly 03 we eventually had a winner.  The three proposals were of great promise and touched on very important local issues.  Towards the end proposal 6 and 7 powered ahead and local support and campaigning reached fever pitch, however there can only be one winner and on this occasion it was the Machynlleth with the question 'What happens when a supermarket comes to town?'

If you…

Love at First Light

Hello everyone,

"Love at First Light" finishes its run at Chapter Arts Centre this Saturday.   Its been getting a great response thus far. We're in a development phase, but its still a show packed with great performances and much to relish.

The richly comic “Love at First Light”, like first love and childhood, takes place on a blissful summer’s day by the sea.  A vivid array of eccentric, hilarious and troubled characters find themselves sitting next to one another,…

'Little Dogs' review.

“How fucked is it that God creates this moment then offers it as a sin?”

The mating ritual begins. Swansea is our setting, and the Patti Pavillion on

Mumbles road is segregated and transformed into a fragmented Wind Street. The space was effectively utilised…

So I went into the RWCMD today to meet the head of design, which was thoroughly inspiring!
The workshops just look like the ideal place to work and I just know it's where I want to study!

So all in all, a good day.
Just need the experience now....
