Estimated to be around 8,000, the Somali community in South Wales mostly lives in Cardiff, predominantly in Butetown, Riverside, and Grangetown. Arriving in Cardiff to work in the Docks from the end of the nineteenth century, the Somali community has been boosted since the 1990’s due to the outbreak of the lengthy civil war in the…

Hello.
About eighteen months ago I began an ACW-supported project painting portraits of stage performers - actors, comedians, poets, and so on. I posted on here asking if any NTW members might be interested in sitting, and a bunch of fine people responded.
I was working towards two exhibitions: the first, at MoMA Wales, Machynlleth, and the second in Penarth, at the …

Hi all!
I'm shooting a micro-short comedy this Sunday (18th May) and I'm in need of an actor to play a boyfriend character for one brief scene. There's no dialogue to learn, just a bit of acting 'coupley' and pulling some faces at my lead as he gets up to silly stuff. It'll be a quick shoot but hopefully a bit of a giggle. We're shooting in Roath, Cardiff. If you fancy it, drop me a line.
Cheers

Theatr Iolo is presenting Made in China's Gym Party at Chapter on 16th and 17th May. It's a fantastic show, which I absolutely loved in Edinburgh. We really need the community's support to make this show a success so please come along and join in.
If you quote NTW Community at the box office you can get a ticket for just £5 (Normal price is £12/10).
A razor sharp and darkly comic exploration of our universal desire to win.
Three intrepid contestants compete in a series…

Common Wealth is in the Gurnos developing a new show about Nationalisation.
We’re being supported by NTW to do an R&D and we’ve been really ambitious and decided to make it a bit of a proper show. The Gurnos deserves it. Over the past few months we’ve met and interviewed people of all ages about their thoughts on Nationalisation/Privatisation and Community Ownership. We’ve spoke about change, power, apathy and the future. On Friday night we’ll create an imaginary…

On Arriva train to Cardiff from a bright north this morning, heading to NTW office for catch-up with Devinda. We've arrived in Chester, where, inevitably, we've been asked to change trains again. How long will Wales put up with having to travel to England to get to South Wales??? I've forgotten my flask and the tea trolley doesn't come on board til Shrewsbury... will I survive? Or do I need Llinos Lanini's hilarious Ignite stand on Intimacy Management - Llinos it is -…
