Recently Margaret Robertson joined us for some game development sessions on The Beach.
She's equally happy with digital, consoles, mobile, offline and online gaming. To us she has taken the role of wise gamerturg* along with her colleagues Alex and Holly at… Continue

I am lucky enough to be working with a lovely Cambridge based theatre company called Gomito. It is my first time working with them and they have welcomed me into their family.
We are rehearsing for a fringe show 'Flor Du Muerto' that will be performed during the Edinburgh Fringe at 'The Bedlam' The show very physical it uses some clever puppetry, it would be lovely to see you all there.
During the previous three days I had settled into a pattern of documenting, and then things changed. What had worked for the first part of the week suddenly left me floundering around trying to find a way to record and make sense of the process I was witnessing. Retreat, regroup, change strategy.
i am documenting the genetic processes at work in the creation of The Persians, the forwards and backwards moves in the rehearsal process that lead up to the live…

I am planning to write the first week up when I travel back to Aberystwyth on the train on Friday, and then next week I will try to arrange research interviews with the performers and crew. Hopefully I can pick some useful questions out of the -…

Here's what I think I thought of For Mountain Sand and Sea.
Only thing is, despite giving it the 'worst' review of the four productions so far, it has since played on my mind and I think I'll have far more lasting memories of the day than with the others to which I gave broadly positive reviews.
Lines mark out the space. The lines are a map. A map of a location. A map hangs on the wall. Denoting the location of a village, the village housing the location on the floor. And that is as close as I have been so far. I tried to drive there, but you can't. Well you could but you would probably get fined £500 by the military... honestly, you should read the signs... don't stop, do not pass go etc. etc. And so all I have at this stage are the maps. Not just the cartographic kind, for… Continue

Just a quick post to let you all know what ShellShock Theatre are up to this Summer. We're really excited to be off to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival to be part of the Forest Fringe's program of events. We'll be spending a week up in Edinburgh creating new material to be part of our 'Don't Call Us, We'll Call You...' project, which was developed as apart of the NTW hosted Forest Fringe Micofestival in Swansea.… Continue
It's the last week of playtesting before the NTW05 team locate themselves in Prestatyn for the whole month of July. And the heavens opened. And it rained. On us. On the beach. On Prestatyn seafront.…
Chapter Arts Centre was full to overflowing with theatre types this morning. Not all had anything to do with NTW, but quite a few did. It was a little overwhelming when I first entered the rehearsal space and saw all of the faces. Mike Pearson led us through the plans for the production, a speech which he must now be very well rehearsed in, having had a number of months of interrogation directed at him on the subject.
Firstly, an apology. I know you're not expecting this challenge until tomorrow but tomorrow is a busy day for me so I'm sorry I've had to issue it early. I'm hoping none of you will mind.
So, this week's challenge...
As I'm sure most of you know by now, NTW05 The Beach combines both theatre and gaming. With the challenges so far Bethan has challenged you to create story, Carl too looked at the creative writing side of things. Me, I'm going for pure… Continue
