Dear friends,
very happy to announce "DIVE" Stage One on 7th November at the Dance House.
"DIVE" is work with dancers' obstacles, psychological and physical, and allow the process of their overcoming them to become material for a highly personal choreographed piece.
"DIVE" tells two parallel stories - the story of our struggles with the fears, pain and agony of existence and the story of the ever unfolding now in which one can be surprised by…

It’s just past 4pm on Wednesday and I’m already blazing down the caffeine highway. I’ve been rocking it since last night. I think one of the problems with wanting to write, or do anything that has a creative component and deadlines, is that you fall back in to bad habits. Energy drinks. Sweets. Tesco value pork pies. Late nights with endless cups of coffee. You fill your body with enough stimulants and shit and hope the resulting explosion is accompanied by the juddering birthing of your…

Words can't really express how happy I am to be working with the delightful Dirty Protest and National Theatre Of Wales on one of the must see events of the year and most certainly the best thing in Cardiff this weekend (especially now there's no premiere league football to watch due to internationals)! On the 12th October-that's this coming Sunday from 11am at the Angel Hotel, Cardiff, some of the most exciting writers, actors and creative people will join together for a day of play…

This Sunday (12th) See's the second Dirty Gifted and Welsh at the wonderful Angel Hotel, Cardiff.
With a massive pool of talented writers and a partnership between NTW and the raucous Dirty Protest , what more could you want for a Sunday out of your PJ's? I've heard there's also going to be dancing!!
I am extremely excited and grateful that I was asked to write a short response play for the event.
So, Rita, Rollercoasters and Cottage Pie, not the title of the play but my…

It's a week ago now that I returned from Hamburg, where Gavin and I went to an event called "The Art of Being Many".
"The Art of Being Many" was a two day mega assembly, organised by Geheimagentur, Kampnagel and Graduiertenkolleg and was part of their PhD program.
We spent all Saturday and Sunday from noon til midnight in an old warehouse, which…

It's not every day you get to eat a three-course meal inside a theatre.
It's not everyday you get your roast chicken with a side of hula hoop.
It's not everyday the cheesecake you're about to dive into was paraded down a catwalk.
That's right! It's time for FAÇADE again!
Façade is…

So I'm currently in a week of R+D that is being supported by Wales Lab. The project is to create a spoken word experience that involves the audience.
The title is "You'll Be a Man" and myself and Brent Morgan are working on it. We are trying to tackle all those awkward parts of growing from a young adult into a man.
Today was our first day of the R+D and I woke up weather wet and windy outside and still dark! by the time I had sorted a bit of breakfast out it had…

I was lucky enough to spend the latter part of last week in Bangor, observing the National Theatre Wales Assembly project The Big Democracy in action (in my joint role as trainee workshop facilitator - via YOCA - and awkward bloke trying not to get in the way).
The Poetry Party, suggested by Martin Daws, Young People’s Laureate for Wales, had been chosen in a public vote on the NTW forum as the focus of this first North Wales event. The theme: Voter Apathy.…

As the person who came up with the idea of the Poetry Party I would like to write a few words about the experience of seeing my idea developed into a production by NTW's Big Democracy.
The experience has been positive in several ways; it gave me an opportunity to develop my idea from an abstract into a reality; the production was excellently…

Bedroom Farce, a significant play for both Alan Ayckbourn and the National Theatre, London, has been given new life by Black Rat Productions. Their revival of this well regarded comedy is currently on tour.
Not to be missed it is ridiculously funny and emotive.
Open those twitching curtains and read my review to have a peep into what goes on in the bedrooms maybe somewhere near you.

"People had said to me that I'd set plays everywhere but in the bedroom and I got to think about them and became fascinated by what people do in bedrooms - I don't mean all that ho, ho risqué stuff, but the curious pastimes people take up. Just asking round my friends produced people who played Scrabble, elaborate quiz games, read all night or even in…

Bread & Goose are looking for a film-maker to create a short documentary (8-10minutes) about our Memory Store project.
The Memory Store is a mobile library of memories, all contributed through community workshops in Bangor, Caernarfon, Newport, and London. Participants have created artefacts, sound recordings, images, and pieces of writing that are the essence of a particular memory for them. The Memory Store is a touring installation that accompanies our theatre production…

Since the company launched it’s first programme, NTW has been supporting budding directors to gain experience and develop their practice. We believe that one of the best ways to do this is by working side by side, in the rehearsal room (or field), with more experienced professionals and observing how they make their work.
Now, for the first time, we are happy to announce two new development opportunities for directors who are ready for the next stage of their careers. And, previous…
