The ITs Festival Amsterdam (international theatre school festival) is a brilliant week of diverse performance, debate and celebration. The next festival is coming up soon 22nd-30th June 2010, and there are various training opportunities for 3rd/4th year students, recent graduates and young emerging artists!
Teflonstage will be touring a school's version of 'Pygmalion Redux' by Oscar Fovarge this summer. We are looking for actors-animateurs-workshop leaders for the schools (salary, full board on uni campuses, performance fees). See my previous blog. In particular we seek an actor for the role of Leo Pygman (the 'g' is silent), troubled, dissolute but brilliant promoter of aspiring female rock stars. Contact office@teflonstage.org for further info.
The monitoring document is complete. I am really glad that I wrote it. It helps to have sat down and written about what I have been doing and what I intend to do. Back in control of the project. My house mate gave me a lift down to Cardiff in the afternoon. I am going to spend the weekend with family and then hopefully on Monday I will be able to visit and interview some people at the National Theatre.
It occurred to me that a trip to London to visit the National…
I returned to the document that I had set up the day before. And stared blankly into the sections. Hmmmm... what do you say you are doing when you are not yet sure what you are doing. I suppose the expectations can't be that high of this as I am only 6 weeks into the project. Only enough time to have started thinking really.
I’m Ryan Andrews director of The Devil Inside Him trailer, I work mainly in genre film and have a distinct style. I am currently in pre production for my fist feature film to be shot in 3D “Elfie Hopkins and the Gammons” to be distributed by Sony and vertigo film. This May I will also be shooting “Jerusalem” starring Ray Winstone as William Blake. My previous works include, Family picnic for which I won the IMS award for best director and soon to be… Continue
South Wales-based Teflonstage has been asked to run a theatre in education project at international junior centres in England and Scotland in July/August this year. This forms part of a fresh approach to language learning. There are further plans to take workshops and performances to conferences in Europe from early 2011. Teflonstage is looking for actors-workshop leaders-animateurs. Contact me for more information.
I set my 1st draft up on Google Docs. There are three sections. The first is an outline of the project to date, the second contains a draft structure and the third part is a rough timetable for the completion of the project. I was also able to construct a number of different research questions. I need to hand it in on Friday if I am to head off to cardiff in the evening. That means completing the work tomorrow and then tweaking on Friday.

That good old fellow Oscar Wilde once said that the only way to get rid of temptation is to yield to it.
With this philosophy in mind, I want to go wild with a puntastic celebration of Shelf Life before go and see it on Friday. I'm hoping as many people as possible can join in the fun times. What, with this being a fully booked show in an empty library (get it, yeah?) the cheesier the comments the better.
Dominic Cavendish from The Telegraph has already unwittingly joined in the game… Continue

So it’s the beginning of week 3 and I thought it was about time I introduced myself and let you know a bit about what we are up too.I’m Sita Calvert – Ennals the grateful recipient of one of N. T. The play is set in 1950 in a small village about half an hour away from Swansea. So the first week was about getting into the world. Myself and Sarah…

I went running three times today. Progressively shorter distances each time. I also did more thinking. I decided to return to John's article, Rapid Response to find some answers to yesterdays questions. The last time I read it the first show hadn't happened. Neither had the assembly project. It was interesting to reflect upon the aims with reference to the work so far.
I have pulled out a number of quotes that seemed relevant. In what way I'm not yet sure. But…
In this ground-breaking experiment, Romeo and Juliet is coming to life across and through a social network, Twitter.
Throughout the five weeks of this performance, you will see and read the “tweets” - Twitter updates which may be thoughts, messages, links or confessions - of Romeo, Juliet and four other characters .
They are being brought to your Twitter-stream by six actors from the Royal… Continue
Hi everyone just wanted to let you of a performance I am doing on the 24th April at The Grand Theatre, Arts Wing in Swansea. It's a new play called 'Hot Tears' by Caerphilly writer Alun Howells. Based on Squaddies on their tour of Iraq before their withdrawl, it tells their stories, one of many but a universal story of how serving, living & death affects us all. It's only about 30 - 40 mins but should be thought provoking & give an insight into the thoughts & lives of those who… Continue
