Boyd Clack's Blog (10)

Life.

Hello all.  Sorry not to have posted for so long but I've been on a secret government assignment in the former soviet union and I got caught, imprisoned and tortured.  I escaped by covering my body in rat urine, attaching feathers from my duck down matress and convincing them I was a chicken.  They sure are dumb these commies (ex commies).  Anyway, working on a thing with the NTW, coming along!  Also I have a CD - 'Labourer of Love' - coming out in time for christmas.  Its a lovely poiece of…

Hi There

I was thinking about tiny people in the world of the huge, I think its symbolic, and I remembered reading Gulliver's Travels as a child.  I must have read it half a dozen times.  The little giant girl who captured Lem and put him in her doll's house in Brobdidnag was named Glumdalclitch!  How com little girls don't get named that today.  I think its lovely.  Glumdalclitch Clack!  What a great programme for next year.  The interconnection with the community carries on at a pace.  Thiis was high… Continue

Passion

My Mrs, Kirsten Jones, and I saw the opening of Passion on the beach in Port Talbot on Friday afternoon.  What a fantastic experience.  We loved it.  To have got such a large scale production together with of necessity no practical dress runs, well ... what can you say!?  The set up with the town's hierarchy meeting the dark ones was ace, then the bomber, the appearance of christ, the sun beating down, the all round excellence of the acting, it was wonderful.  Michael Sheen is not just a film… Continue

Dark philosophers

Hello. I went to see Dark P on the press night. What a cracking show. The set was breathtaking, the acting top drawer and the script and direction enthralling and relevent. I was overwhelmed with piquant nostalgia at one point. It has to be said that the National Theatre is doing us proud, innovative without being pretentious, intelligent yet populist and rooted firmly in our soil. How wonderful after all these years of good work being lost in difusion. Unfortunately my night was dampened a…

Trapped in a Brothel

Hi! Long time no sea. I've been trapped in a brothel near Taff's Well. I feel sorry for those of you who are not satanista. Throw of your pathetic inhibitions, dance naked before the alter of The Dark Lord. And I don't mean Ed Thomas. Though Ed is dark at times. Bumped into John McGrath the other day. He is more outrageous… Continue

pontardawe - home of satan

We have now done three of the eight shows and are in Pontardawe for number four. A woman just invited me back to her house to 'worship the dark lord'. I declined. John threw a wobbly this morning when I said that his aftershave smelled like a cheap tart's perfume. He's so sensitive. Alan the writer and John had a bitter set to over the reviews. Alan told John that it's his writing that makes the show and that a monkey could direct it. John called Alan a 'deluded slap head' and they had a brief… Continue

Big trouble this morning. John lost his temper and told us the only reason we got picked from the auditions was that he wanted an 'upward curve' in the quality of productions. He called us 'second raters'. Huw burst into tears and John called him a 'wuss'. John talked to me privately later and told me that he hates me. It all started when I commented on a pair of sparkly socks he was wearing. Sharon is in rehab. They're replacing all her blood. I talked to a well known Welsh actor yesterday and… Continue

Latest News

Hi, Boyd Clack here again. Rehearsals continue in a whirwind of nastiness and backbiting. I intend to keep out of it. The main arena of animosity seems to be between Alan, the writer and John, the director. They don't even try to disguise their mutual contempt. John is constantly belittling Alan. He forced him to wear a chicken costume in yesterdays rehearsal. Every time Alan tried to speak, John would drown him out by clucking loudly. It's childish if you ask me. Remember I said that the girls… Continue

neophyte

Hello. Boyd Clack here. Been rehearsing with the company for two and a half weeks. I am mentally and physically exhausted but the cast and crew are as cool a bunch of hombres as you'd ever meet. Ollie Wood is an old mate from High Hopes and his cheery disposition never fails to raise spirits. He isn't the sharpest banana in the volcano but he's angelic. Huw is a nice guy too. He's a fellow depressive and we exchange bleak anecdotes about our childhhods. The girls, Sharon, Amy and Siwan are…
