Hello!
A quick blog to promote Tin Shed Theatre Co. newest venture Molecule: Artists in Residency
We have recently moved into our new space (a large disused MFI furniture store in Maes Glas, Newport, Gwent) and we are looking to run a residency programme with anyone who may need a lot of free space and a few additional resources to take a project in the early stages of development and to begin to work with it in the physical realm.
As…

The End Is Nigh!
So tomorrow we should tell those people we love that we love them just one last time, because if those bloody Mayans turn out to be master of fortune in 24 hours we're doomed to be ashes and dust.
But I'm not panicing.
But today I have pondered the idea of the end "being nigh", as my 2 hour train journey turned into a 4 hour train journey, please, please, please don't ask.
I've been…

Todays Blog
"This year I will be seeking out some alternative Christmas entertainment, as I'd rather hack my arm off with a rusty chainsaw than sit through any kind of Pantomime - I'm a f**king snob and I don't care, maybe when I have kids I wont be... Although I'll be DAMNED if I'm taking my kids to a Pantomime! I'm joking... It's great... I love…

"Last night my Mum woke me up at 2.45am and asked me to help her look for her keys. As she woke me abruptly, she explained paramedics had just done the same to her. They called her mobile explaining that my Gran had pushed her alarm and they'd been trying to gain access to her house for nearly an hour with no answer. I don't think I've been that struck with that much panic in..."

'Oh I see... You're the type of people who say "nothing happens in Newport" aren't you? This is the ending you want...'
Our cynical, self depreciating, depressed stand up comic begins to tell bad jokes about Newport; "I went home to my wife, she said "I'm home sick" I said, "You are home" she said, "I know and I'm…

The Meeting...
The Meeting...
What is The Meeting?!
Two weeks ago we had little to no idea. All we knew was that The Meeting was about community, The Meeting was about a city, artists, collaboration, people, concerns, celebrations, ideals, attitudes and most importantly - Newport.
I've lived in Newport since 2005 and back then I remember feeling a great sense of comfort from the city. Having lived…

Very good news this morning!
Tin Shed Theatre Co. has been given it's first Arts Council Wales funding! Hazar! So our Comedy Port immersive venue will be going ahead!
Last year we ran a pilot of the scheme in which we transformed the gallery space of U.R.B.A.N into the inside of a rocket ship, complete with planets, aliens, port holes and arcade games, we did this with a tight budget and no one got paid. So this year we applied for a grant of just under £5,000…

I've been frequenting Edinburgh Fringe for the past four years and it's never failed to deliver, but more and more its prowess has been lessening, and this year it almost hit rock bottom.
This year, it seems, prices for theatre, on the whole, had gone up at least 15% from previous years. Previous years unknowns seemed more eager to claw audiences through the door charging a neat and healthy price of £5 or less, lessening the audience’s part in the risk we're all asked to take…

Tin Shed Theatre Co. were in Bath early last week performing at The Mission Theatre.
The day before we had the opportunity to explore the city (which I've actually done numerous times, but enjoyed every minute yet again) so with a cast of seven three of whom had never been we took a trip to The Pump Room.
The Pump Room is a place where you can drink fresh, warm, natural spring water. A glass of the liquid costs only 50p, has the consistency of milk, tastes like salt-fish and…

Hello!
I'm trying to create an online directory for arts events in Newport.
I want to cover absolutely everything, from community craft workshops to Opera in the Riverfront.
I'm doing this on an entirely volentery basis. I feel strongly about the arts in Newport, I see so many amazing and facinating things going on but with such piss-poor attendence. People often say "I didn't know it was happening" I'm hoping to erradicate this…

Tuesday 31st January Barnabas Arts house is having an open meeting for anyone who wishes to do something creative in Newport and doesn't have a space or the atmosphere in which to do it.
I recently discovered this building in Newport and it's fantastic!
A renovated church Barnabas Arts House boasts; A Cafe, a Gallery, Artist Studios, and underneath it all is located an awesome miniature theatre! Complete with stage. This space doubles up as a bespoke…

Hello,
I was wondering if anyone could recommend a magazine, or mailout, or some kind of publication that will keep me a little more involved in (South) Wales Theatre/Arts.
My eyes ache from viewing the neon glow of my laptop screen and my finger tips are flattening due to tappy tap tapping. I fancy returning to ye olden days of yore.
Any links, suggestions or advice welcome.
Mucho

Back home in Shropshire. So feel a bit of a cheat posting on NTW from foreign shores...
I've had the itch and so been looking for some theatrical/artistic pursuits since being home. I've been to see a pretty good amature production in my "local" and I've been to a gallery space where I watched a man painting…

Whether you're delighted or outraged by the idea of "The Victorian Freakshow" it happened, and it'd be difficult to argue that it wasn't a fascinating (if not damning) part of British history, and also presents an interesting vehicle as…

I had quite a creative extravaganza yesterday! It was one of the more fruitful Saturday's of mine, I must admit. It's up there with the walk up Snowdon over a year ago... But that's beside the point. The two are nay related and the latter is irrelevant... On to the point.
My morning began scrolling (some say Trolling) the Online World looking for creative outlets and opportunities until I gave up all pursuits of an artistic nature and ended up playing the same level of…

Only one week to go and Tin Shed Theatre's preparation's for Mr Edgar Allan Poe's Terrifying Tales at The Judges Lodging are going smoothly as ever!
We have made the all important stilts... TThis is me and resident carpenter (Aka my pap) after an afternoon of hard-graft-stilt-craft. I'm rather impressed with the outcome, even if I do say so…

My first Blog may as well be covert sales pitch, right?!
Tin Shed Theatre Co. has been working hard since Sunday to get it's John Frost Sq Rocket Ship (commissioned by the Riverfront, constructed within the walls of the U.R.B.A.N empty shop) off the ground, and following a successful ComedyPort opening party, LaunchPad, which played host to 6 awesome South Wales comedy acts (Ludus Ludius, Daniel Rowley, Francesca's Word Salad, Geraint Dafydd Evans, Elvis Preseli and the…
