Take an Incredible journey on a train

This may seem like a blog about train times to a faraway land called Llanelli. But if you dig a little deeper it is the pathway to an exciting and wonderful theatre experience.

This Incredible Life by Alan Harris, produced by Canoe Theatre and Ffwrnes is on this weekend in Llanelli and with a cast of Sharon Morgan, Elin Phillips and Simon Nehan it is shaping up…

Settling into life at The National Theatre Studio

My first two months as Resident Director at the National Theatre Studio has flown by and I wanted to take a moment to reflect and share the experience so far. This opportunity at the Studio has been made possible through a partnership with National Theatre Wales and will last until July. It’s an incredible place to be based as a director who describes herself as a magpie – open to begging, stealing and borrowing to serve the work.

The Studio has been described as the Laboratory…

‘Debate and Celebrate’ this Friday 15th March

Just a reminder that there will be an event at Ten Feet Tall, Cardiff this Friday to reflect upon NTW’s Production of ‘A Provincial Life’ adapted and directed by Peter Gill from the short story by Chekhov.

The afternoon will start with a debate on ‘What made it special’ – with a focus on directing and acting Chekhov and will end in the sharing of stories, questions, observations and anecdotes from the Production itself.

If you want to take part,…

Working on 'A Provincial Life'.

Rehearsals for a Provincial life have come to the end of the third week and the vibe in the rehearsal room is 'it's a big undertaking!'. I was listening into conversations earlier to hear comments like 'it's a huge play... there's alot of props...it's going to be interesting logistically...'. I walked away from my eavesdropping with a little smile on my face.

The scale and detail in this production is what has made my experience as assistant to Peter so incredible. Or put more…

The search is over!

The search for twelve members of Russian society in 1895 (with a hint of 1966, a sprinkling of Wales and a dash of London - more about that in a later update) is over!

At the end of last week at the National Theatre Wales offices, we all met as a group for the first time. I must admit I was a little nervous.
