PLAYTIME

TAITH: Reflections

Yesterday at the Sherman Theatre, it was playtime.

 

Writers, directors and a company of actors came together to present new ten-minute plays to young people aged 10-12. Nervous laughter and anticipation quickly turned into belly laughs as accents, roars, animals…

It's the afternoon. The plays have come togethor in the studio.

But in the mainhouse. A different kind of mischief is happening - as 25 or so children have gathered for a workshop with facilitator Tamar Williams.

They're looking at the art of storytelling and the link of storytelling to theatre. At 4pm, they'll get to see the pieces.

The playing continues. 4pm, Sherman Theatre.

Today, the Sherman is buzzing.

Rehearsals continue for 'Emperor's New Clothes.' The first week of 'The Borrowers' is in full swing and today, the fourth chapter in the Sherman Theatre's initiative to develop emerging writers has taken over the space. TAITH has begun.



And it's an exciting takeover.
