Cerian Wilshere Davies – The Theatre Design Process
Production Member on Residency with the National Youth Theatre of Wales. Aberystwyth Arts Centre. August/September 2014
The process has been fun but also very challenging. We began making straight away.
We spent many a day painting, cutting and ‘vinyling’ to create the futuristic Rubix’s Cube/TRON styled set.
We then started on making the theatre space. We put…

DAY 1 Today was our first rehearsal for The National Youth Theatre's 2014 production of "How Do You Eat An Elephant?". We started off with exercises to get to know each other and I must say the company this year is amazing. ... I’m Dafydd Lansley but you can call me Daf. I’ve been a part of National Youth Theatre of Wales for over three years now and each year offers a new challenge to be faced. This is the first time we have ever remounted a production and on top of that we’re doing it in three days. Weirdly enough, it all came back to us pretty quickly on the first day. The wonders of muscle memory, eh?
We spent two days in the amazing Arad Goch Theatre and now we’re treading familiar ground in the…

National Youth Theatre Wales Wooooop! And a a little bit of Ouch…. AKA today the bodies are a little bit achy.
So guys we did our first proper run through yesterday, exciting times! We got used to our foot patterns, Trolleys, Props and then added more to our dance sequences. We are just about to go into the theatre to tech the show after only two days! It has been tough but also amazing to be back into this madness.
The…

Rhys’ Blog – dead born grow
WE ARE BACK!! This is the first time that I’ve ever remounted a show and its proving to be a real challenge…but still very exciting. 7 months since we last performed the piece its interesting how quickly everything comes flooding back…the body does remember (something Frantic assured us of last summer).
We started by recapping and re-remembering the major movement sections of the piece…which was simple enough to do…but finding the detail…

DEAD BORN GROW a blog through the eyes of Jessica Tait
After 7 months away from the rehearsal space the cast returned to Aberystwyth yesterday to rework ‘dead born grow’. We were all extremely excited to be back together, performing at the ‘Agor Drysau Opening Doors Festival’.
We got straight back into rehearsals, covering the major movement pieces, tweaking…

We are pooped.
Got into rehearsals this morning and there was no rest for the wicked, jumped straight in to our first full blocked piece where we added and played around with the choreography to make the jumps bigger and more physically demanding. Everyone is talking about what will happen next and how we will top…

GET YOUR CLOTHES OFF!!!
After a successful sandwich it was back to the Frantic NYTW rehearsal room. One group carried on with some ‘Crazy Dance Madness’ while the other had an ‘Emotional Thought Provoking Sit Down’.
We then moved on to one of the day’s main events – Taking Clothes off Each Other (or just one lucky soul). It wasn’t as easy as you might think –…
