Hey blog type people!
So, we have now completed our run in Blackwood and it feels a little like leaving home for the first time. We have been rehearsing there for so many weeks, it feels like that is where the show belongs. But, as we have known all along, it is time to leave and move on to the next venue. However, we are taking one part of the Blackwood shows with us... the musical phenomenon that are 4th Street Traffic are joining us in Blaengarw (at very short notice!!!) These guys are amazing and have made the first few shows really come alive, so we are delighted that they can join us for one more show.
Anyway.... on to the first shows!!! I don't know what the general public have thought, but we as a company have been really pleased with how things have gone. I for one was delighted that my croaky voice held out until the finale yesterday (I was not looking forward to my last scene, but it went quite well!) John commented that he quite likes Sue being a gruff, husky Valley girl... I pointed out that it was more necessity than choice, but there you go!!
The feedback we've been getting so far is very positive. Hopefully, it will continue for the rest of the tour, as people understand the concept behind the show. It has been so much more fun than we ever thought it was going to be. The fear has disappeared somewhat, and we are now beginning to enjoy playing these characters.
I would like to say at this point that Sharon Morgan is a consumate professional. She has been terribly ill over the last few days but has continued to perform wonderfully. You would never have known that she felt like death!!! Good on you Sharon!!!!!
I have had such a good time creating this piece and rehearsing with an amazing bunch of people, I will be very upset when it all has to finish. But it will inevitably do so, and then we will have the rest of the NTW calendar to look forward to. But for now, it just leaves me to say.... Bring on the rest of the tour!!!
