For the last 2 years Clown Lab has focussed on developing a burgeoning clown community across Manchester and Liverpool  and in August we are coming to Cardiff to run our 5-day comedy, clown and play intensive.

Clown Labs workshops are aimed at anyone who wishes to discover, explore and develop what is uniquely funny about them.

Our sessions are taught through a series of hilarious games and exercises that focus on fun, lightness and humour and use these as the keys to help unlock the comic potential in everyone.

Working in this way you will begin to understand what an audience finds funny about you.

Over the course of this workshop you will begin to become more impulsive, playful and spontaneous. You will explore the work in solos, duos and as an ensemble, learn how to play with complicity in both major and minor roles and most importantly find the fun in all you do.

Clown Lab encourages participants to play with openness, optimism, and naivety and to take pleasure in every single moment onstage.

Previous participants have included actors, directors, musicians, street performers, writers, singers, artists, teachers, students and creatives.

We hope to see you there.

“I have been an ardent follower of clowning for years; Clown Lab is right up there with the best.”

Tom Wright, Director Royal and Derngate Theatre

" Along with discovering how to enjoy and be playful on stage, I learned how to laugh. Mark and Alice found the key to open a little box inside me where my stupid laugh was trapped. it is free now."

Yoel Giboudet.

"Clown Lab is a wonderful place! You can wear your wife's clothes and nobody minds. Sometimes they even like it and laugh at you. I hadn't anticipated how much Fun could be had in just 4 days."

"The teaching from Mark and Alice was excellent. The teachers were approachable and friendly; yet their professionalism and commitment to their art was apparent."
