Actors Needed for Paid Research and Development

Casting Breakdown Cyrano

August 012 is a company that aims to bring international plays to Wales and explore the rest of the world's text and idea in a creative and innovative way.

After the success of Caligula, August 012 is about to start a week researching and developing their next production, Cyrano by Edmond Rostand. This production will be directed by Mathilde Lopez.

Famed for his eloquence, rapier-sharp wit, Cyrano, Cadet of Gascogne is cursed with an abnormally large nose, which hampers the possibility to ever be loved by his cousin Roxanne. He lives out his romantic fantasies by providing a voice for the beautiful and slightly simple Christian de Neuvillette whom Roxanne falls for. Christian, who is also one of the Gascony regiment's newest recruit becomes Cyrano's alter ego and unwillingly, his close friend.

We want to bring this classic piece to a contemporary Welsh audience and explore it with and within Rugby.

1 male actor, 20-25 years old

1 male actor, 35-40 years old

1 female actor, 20-25 years old

We are looking for actors across all ethnicities to explore the multiple female and male roles of the piece.

You'll need to have the ability to play and explore classic texts in verse, a practical knowledge of Rugby and the curiosity and creativity required for a research.
