An opportunity to clown around.... as part of UNITY FESTIVAL 2010

Hijinx Theatre would like to offer you an exciting opportunity to take part in 4 days of FREE workshops leading to performances during the week-long Unity Festival at the Wales Millennium Centre, Maindee Festival and a Finale Gig.

The Unity Festival is a week-long festival celebrating arts created by all, to be enjoyed by all and is brought to you by Hijinx Theatre in association with MENCAP Cymru and Wales Millennium Centre - June 28 – July 4 2010.

We have invited internationally recognised theatre companies Clownfish (Barcelona) and Clownbaret (Tenerife) to work with an inclusive group of 20 towards creating performances which will be programmed throughout the whole week of the festival. Both companies are experts in street theatre and clowning, and it is these skills you will be trained in to enable you to perform in 3 separate pieces. For more info on Clownfish and Clownbaret visit www.clownfish.es and www.clownbaret.com.

There is a level of time commitment required to take part, although if you can’t make some of the dates please let us know which via your application as there may still be the chance of some involvement. The workshops will take place 24 – 27 June and the performances will be throughout the week (28 Jun – 4 Jul).

The group you will be working with will be an inclusive group, therefore will include actors with and without learning disability or disability.

This will be a fantastic experience and we hope you are able to take advantage of this opportunity to be part of something a little different! Taking part is free but places are limited and available via application. If you would like to be considered to take part please email ben.pettitt-wade@hijinx.org.uk for an application form and availability form to be returned by June 12th.

We will then be in touch to confirm your place and let you know final arrangements. The workshops will take place in central Cardiff. Please be aware that there is an age restriction of 18+ and that places are limited.
