Assistant Director Required for NTW TEAM Performance Party, Pembrokeshire!

NTW TEAM is marking the end of the first year of our four-year programme by holding TEAM Performance Parties in Pembrokeshire and Wrexham, with the first taking place in Haverfordwest this November.

What is a Performance Party? It is a mix between a performance, a conversation and a party!

The purpose? To get a better idea of what is important to the people of Pembrokeshire, to let you know a bit more about NTW and TEAM and for us find out what you would like from your National Theatre as we continue our journey to creating a show together over the next few years.

Join us for the chance to have your say and to be a part of the decision-making process right from the start.  Catherine Paskell will work closely with the community to create something fun and interactive, inspired by TEAM in Pembrokeshire and we need you to get involved!

We are looking for an Assistant Director to assist the Director, Catherine Paskell, on the development of short performances, devised to encourage conversations with audience members during the event.  The final production will be a co-creation involving a range of arts practitioners including poets, musician, writers and actors, amongst others.

You will need to be available on:

Monday 19th November

Tuesday 20th November

Wednesday 21st November

Thursday 22nd November

As this will take place in Haverfordwest, we are interested in hearing from Assistant Directors based in Pembrokeshire. The fee will be £100 a day.

This role would be ideal for a candidate currently working within the arts who is looking to further develop their practice.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Attending and supporting workshops
  • Developing elements of the final piece
  • Liaising with NTW staff
  • Forming relationships with the community.
  • Promoting the development process via a blog on the NTW Community and TEAM pages.
  • Undertaking research on behalf of the creative team.
  • Representing NTW in the immediate community and surrounding areas.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Some experience of directing.
  • An understanding of how to engage with diverse communities.
  • Experience of arts work in a community context.
  • Own transport desirable.
  • Ability to speak Welsh desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills.

To apply, please send a copy of your CV and a covering letter, telling us what you think you could bring to this role, on no more than two sides of A4, to Naomi Chiffi on team@nationaltheatrewales.org by midday on 16th October.  Interviews will take place on 29th October in Pembrokeshire.
