Bandwagon Theatre: Our Edinburgh Fringe (Day 1)

To whomever may be interested, here I begin a blog that will track our journey through our Edinburgh Fringe performances and experiences day by day in the hope that someone may read, enjoy or maybe even learn something from it. It's our first time here, so I thought you all might like to hear about how it goes.

Well we're here. Arrived safe and sound. Phoned mums and partners anxiously waiting back in Cardiff to let them know how the journey went, drew on the faces of those who fell asleep on the way and ate our way through several packs of sugary treats. Standard. Now the fun starts.

For those of you who have never visited Edinburgh, you simply have to. On entering the city (not entirely sure of where we were going I may add), you can't help but take in the history, the buildings and the beauty of it.

But we're not here just to take pretty pictures, so we ditched our bags and headed straight for our venue, Greenside venue 231. Fantastic. On arrival we were greeted by drinks, canapés, friendly faces, interesting conversation and an hour long preview show from some of the acts and performances that we're sharing the venue with. Couldn't have asked for a better start to our Edinburgh Fringe! Not only because of the free beverages, but we already feel utterly welcomed by both the venue, it's staff and our fellow performing companies. It gave us an excellent confidence boost and got us talking to reviewers and potential audience members. Credit where it's due - the staff at Greenside seem to be incredibly approachable and have a genuine appreciation for us being here. Can't fault it. With our tech rehearsal tomorrow (which will go swimmingly, of course) all of us share the opinion that this is the beginning of a truly unforgettable experience.
Now to bed - There's work to be done tomorrow and I can't wait to get stuck in.

So here's RULE NUMBER 1: Choose your venue with great care - I have a strong feeling this will set the tone for your time in Edinburgh and I couldn't be happier with Greenside.
