Last week on Friday 1st October, I went with Devinda and Mathilde to see the launch of Black History Month at the WMC down the Bay.

Nicky Delgado (above) opened and MC-d the proceedings and we had drum and dance performances from Pa-Modou Sowe and Adama & Diene, as well as a classical piano recital from Catherine Wright, a recent RWCMD graduate.

Key note speakers included historian Abu-Bakr Madden Al-Shabazz, Nick Capaldi and Humie Webbe (our very own Project Manager on NTW10: Soul Exchange!)

Cardiff-born Patti Flynn (above) performed "You've Got A Friend" towards the end of the launch event and we were told about all of the fantastic events happening all over Wales to celebrate this year's Black History Month.

To find out more about these events and workshops that are happening Wales-wide, including the Finale Extravaganza on Saturday 30 October, go to BVSNW's website.
