Bodies in Urban Spaces Audition as part of Adain Avion in Swansea

Bodies in Urban Spaces

A moving trail for a group of dancers, conceived by Willi Dorner

24-30 June 2012

Call Out for Dancers:

Auditions are being held to be a part of a unique, choreographed piece of urban intervention. Having travelled the world from Miami to St Petersburg, the renowned event Bodies in Urban Spaces comes to Wales for the first time as part of Swansea Dance Days and Adain Avion, (ACW’s major contribution to the Cultural Olympiad and London 2012 Festival, curated by interdisciplinary artist Marc Rees www.adainavion.org).

Bodies in Urban Spaces is a moving trail, choreographed for a group of dancers. The performers lead the audience through selected parts of public and semi-public spaces. A chain of physical interventions set up very quickly and only existing temporarily, allows the viewer to perceive the same space or place in a new and different way - on the run.

Group auditions will be held from 11.00 am– 3.00 pm on Sunday 11th March 2012 at the LC, Oystermouth Road, Swansea.

This is a brilliant opportunity to perform and train with an internationally renowned choreographer in a groundbreaking work. If you would like to audition simply send an email to s.e.crouch@swansea.ac.uk by February 24th and turn up at the LC with a CV.

Performers with experience in physical theatre, breakin', contemporary, contact impro and those with an interest in parkour are particularly encouraged to apply.

Any gender aged 18 to 99

A rehearsal period will run from Sunday 24 – Thurs 28 June, the performances will be on Friday 29 and Saturday 30 June. Attendance at all days will be mandatory.

A flat fee of £400 will be paid for the week
