Brand new Leftfield Theatre Company needs you!

In 1971 playwright John McGrath set up a theatre group called 7:84, based on a statistic from 1966 that claimed 7% of the population owned 84% of the country's wealth.

7:84 was a launch pad for a lot of actors careers, and included names such as David Tennant, Douglas Henshall, Peter Mullan and Cathy-Ann Mcphee to name a few.

We believe that the time has come for a theatre company that pushes the boundaries of convention in the same way as 7:84, and LeftField Theatre Company invites you to join via National Theate Wales groups and to come to our first production, a one man short play written by NTW member Rowena Moreno (Scurlock) and starring Simon Peter Ancellon called: Modern Living

Chapter Arts Theatre - 15th August 2013 at 8pm - £4 per ticket/£3 concessions

Contact Leftfield Theatre Company via NTW group website or myself at deanscurlock@yahoo.co.uk

Be a part of the audience, the crew and cast of future productions by joining today.

Our founding principles include:

1. To produce and perform radical new theatre that challenges the prejudices, stereotypes and cultural misconceptions churned out by the media and government

2. To encourage new writing from members of the community previously disenfranchised from the artistic/theatrical/creative worlds

3. To challenge the boundaries of contemporary theatre by experimenting in forms of acting, staging, sound and setting

For example, we want theatre where the female character isn't just an accessory to the male lead, rather the lead character will be female - e.g. how many positive lead female character's can you name on TV, compared to males? and, are they either cast as mothers or wives juggling career and home?

Let's have young people writing theatre for young people, challenging issues such as homophobia, racism and sexism that can appear and develop in the teenage years.

We could have plays promoting Eastern cultures and values as opposed to predominant plays endorsing their western counterparts.

The possibilities are endless. Join now and let me know if you want a ticket for August 15th at the Chapter in Cardiff.

Best wishes, Dean

Good luck on the 15th; sounds interesting. I would come but I'm away at that time. Jane
