Branwen's Starling opens at Afan Forest in glorious sunshine - long may this continue!

It doesn't seem like five minutes ago I was having a meeting with Mark Ryan about adapting this story from the Mabinogion and now we have had our preview! The sun shone all day - the cast sweated in their waterproofs, fake fur and leather costumes - as we had prepared for the usual damp weather!  And despite a few near misses with over zealous mountain bikes and an overly keen little boy unwittingly choosing to sit on the 'stage' to have his picnic and an over excited puppy joining the audience....great fun was had by all.  It was a lovely turn out and very supportive crowd.

Branwen's Starling by Mark Ryan, directed by Elise Davison ( that's me!) designed by Becky Davies with puppets from Nim Donnai and music by Rowan Talbot, is supported by BBC Children in Need and has had an extensive outreach programme co- ordinated and facilitated by Beth House. Featuring an integrated cast - Neil Hancock, Anja Conti, Megan Brooks and Chloe Clark, it now tours until the 4th June with an additional date at the Unity Festival on 1st July.  Catch it if you can - tour dates on the Taking Flight  website or on the events page on NTW or on facebook.  All performances are free so there really is no excuse....it is a promenade show so bring your walking boots, wellies and waterproofs.....fingers crossed the weather holds.
