CALL FOR CREATIVE PRACTITIONER, LEAD CREATIVE SCHOOLS, ROGIET PRIMARY SCHOOL, CALDICOTT

SCHOOL PROFILE

Rogiet Primary School is a fantastic school with enthusiastic staff, pupils and parents.  The school community is friendly and welcoming.

THE PROJECT

The project is set to encourage a sense of wonder and imagination through the use of storytelling and making, based in the outdoors. Our catchment is alongside the Severn Estuary in close proximity to the railway at Severn Tunnel Junction, the M4 corridor and Second Severn Crossing in Monmouthshire. We cater for pupils aged 4 to 11 years of age. Our catchment area is Rogiet, Highmoor Hill, Five Lanes and Caerwent and we currently have 210 pupils on roll. We feel that children’s wellbeing is a key factor within our school and if children feel nurtured and content, this will in also benefit their learning and progress in the long term.

Following the success of our Key Stage 2 Creative Project, we would like to provide opportunities to develop the creative skills of our learners and further develop the children’s team-working skills and confidence levels, as well as raising their community values. This project is set toward implementing and furthering innovative approaches in attainment for Literacy and Creative Writing in Foundation Phase.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for:

  • A Storyteller - maker who can create characters and stories with the children and bring the stories to life through the use of a range of media and would be able to work with children outdoors. Themes to work upon might be:
    • The environment,
    • Roman history – there’s a wealth of Roman sites in the area – Caerwent and Caerleon are nearby and might spark the children’s imagination,
    • Myth and literature which could be used to foster literacy skills.
