I came upon this holiday snap in my uncle's facebook account. Since moving back to Wales, the Paskells have all befriended me on Facebook and welcomed me back to the bosom of my hometown... well, they live in Penarth, but I guess that's close enough to Cardiff...

It made me think of Marc Rees' recent road trip around the Welsh coast and his blog on here. How tied we all are as Welsh families to the sea and to the caravan spots that line it.

When I was a tiny kid, we had a caravanette and used to go driving to the coast or to the forestry commission to get moved about at night by the wind and rogue badgers who wanted to hide under us.

This photo made me think of my dad when he was younger than I am now, and how he used to do these things then. It makes me think of how we are all connected, somehow.

Yes, I am thinking about caravans for some of National Theatre Wales' work... a way to get round the whole of Wales and keep people dry :)

Enjoy your holidays, those that are having them this year!

Oooh! This is making me excited about my 2 WEEK (can you believe it) holiday planned in a few weeks in my caravan in West Wales. Sea, seals, books, cards and scrabble, collecting driftwood and foraging - oh yes, and pysgod a sglodion!

I think the NTW should do a show in a caravan. I just saw some great site specific work in the London Bridge Festival that took place in ZIP Cars.

Oh Caravans for summer holidays..such great memories of endless card games while rain is streaming down the windows, or a pocket full of change to go and play in the arcade. Once I won a tiny doll, I kept it for years, it would fit in my pocket, it had a strong plastic smell, I always get excited when I smell that plastic smell. I thought I was like James Bond sleeping in a caravan.

That's a lovely photo! Just came back from a great caravaning holiday in Llanmadoc myself, it's lovely to get away from it all! Experienced the most amazing thunderstorm on Thursday evening as well....thought we were going to end up in the sea!
