Cardiff Scratch night 23rd June: Casting opportunity

Hello,

I am looking for a mixed ethnic actor (confident to look and play a middle eastern/mediterranean character) preferably aged 30s or playing age; for a script in hand reading of 'The Work Programme' an anti government comedy debuting at Cardiff Fringe Theatre Festival's scratch night on the 23rd June at the CF24 venue located on Crwys Road Cardiff.

I am also looking for 2 Welsh actresses playing age preferably late 30s, Cardiff accent required.

Due to the nature of the performance being a scratch night showcasing new writing these roles are unpaid; however I am looking to develop this project further and apply for an R&D grant via Arts Council Wales.

Here is a bit more info on the play and about the characters I am looking to cast:

The Work Programme

The Work Programme; an inspired true story about a group of volunteer charity shop workers signed up on the tory government's work programme initiative and the unlikely bonds formed. These bonds see the volunteers fighting back against the
treatment they are subjected to in a controlled and closely monitored
environment by the DWP official referred to as 'The Anti-Christ'.

In an age where isolation is prevalent and the fear of the unknown is ever present, The Work Programme opens up a world of ordinary people and their fascinating paths. Thrown together by the controversial government initiative, unlikely bonds begin to form as shared laughter and tears break down barriers and unite to embrace the diversity in society. This is a story taken from true life accounts of charity shop volunteers that will resonate deep in your hearts, question your own prejudices and put into perspective what truly matters in life.

Ali
Outspoken, chauvinistic are words you may at first liken to Ali. He is the marmite
character of the group. Ali is the first to acknowledge a brewing storm in the
shop and give his opinion of his manager and fellow volunteers. He is funny
without trying to be and is often misunderstood which can be contributed to the
differing culture he is used to. He also has a hard time taking direction and
orders from his manager…Carol…a woman…

Linda
Linda is an ely girl through and through, she even terms herself in that way. At first
looks can be deceiving as well as her outspoken attitude but she reveals
herself to be so much more than that and is a great comfort to Teresa in the
wake of her bereavement.

Carol
Carol is a straight talking, no nonsense manager with a heart of gold. Seeing the
problems that has been enforced to the unemployed through the work programme,
she is often on the phone to the useless advisors chasing them up on travel
expenses owed, however they are often clueless about the jobs they are supposed
to be doing.

I will only require one hour read through rehearsal one week prior to the 23rd at a time convenient for the cast.
