CASTING BREAKDOWN for PROJECT ÍSLAND [R&D]

PROJECT INFORMATION

A small fishing village. A polar bear is spotted. A child goes missing. Rumours begin. Blame is placed. The Icecaps are melting, and we are responsible. How does a small community cope with the repercussions of climate change?

This is a research and development week to further understand the dramaturgical potential of this new piece of writing, and also understand how the multi-faceted elements, such as movement, design and sound, might exist alongside the text. This Research and Development project is supported by Arts Council of Wales.

The project dates are Mon 8th - Fri 12th April 2019 at Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff.

All days will be 9.30 - 18.00. Actors fees for the week are £495.00. This project is currently unable to offer travel expenses or subsistence.

CASTING BREAKDOWN

F1 [20s - 30s] A mother. Married to M1. Thinking of leaving her family for a life in the city with her sister. Frustrated and conflicted. Strong willed.

M1 [20s-30s] A father. Married to F1. A fisherman in the village. Hides lots from his wife and family.

F2 [20s-30s] Sister of F1. Lives in the city, some 4 hours away from her hometown. Fiery. More open-minded than lots of others in the village.

M2 [30s - 40s] A fisherman in the village. Friend and colleague of M1. Protective of his village, and his country. Lived in the village all of his life and has never left.

We will consider all performers for all roles, regardless of background, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation or disability. If there are any special measures we can undertake to make your audition easier, please do inform us.

AUDITION INFORMATION

Auditions will take place on Saturday 9th March, 2019 at Wales Millennium Centre. These will operate as group Workshop sessions, at 2.5 hours each. There will be two slots available on the day, 10.30 - 13.00 and 14.30 - 17.00. The workshops will require you to move, so please wear comfortable clothing. They will be run by the project Director, Luke Hereford.

All potential candidates will be informed if they are invited to audition by Monday 25th February 2019. Please also let us know in your submission email if you are available for the earlier, later, or both time slots.
