Never mind saving the galaxy, sometimes you just have to save your own world. Lightspeed from Pembroke Dock explores what happens when Hollywood’s best-loved spaceship lands on your doorstep. This is a story of hope, courage, and how to be a family when it seems the universe is against you.
We are looking for 4 performers (any background, heritage or ethnicity) for the following roles:
YOUNG SAM (1979) - Sam is a 14 year old Star Wars super-fan. When Sam and his school mates break into the secret hangar where his stepdad works, he puts his stepfather’s job in jeopardy. Sam is a dreamer with a huge imagination.
We are looking for a performer who is 18+ who can convincingly play a 14 year old.
MIKE (1979) - Mike is Sam’s stepfather and is a single parent. He was recently made redundant from his job in the local shipyard but has been employed in a top secret construction project - to build the Millennium Falcon for a forthcoming film shoot. Mike is a straight-talking working man who speaks his mind and loves his stepson. We are looking for a performer who can play a 35-45 year old.
OLDER SAM (2014) - Older Sam is on his way to an interview for his dream job - to work on the latest Star Wars film as a props maker. His over-focus on his work prospects have meant he’s taken his eye off the ball with his family and when he goes on a road trip with his daughter things come to a head.
We are looking for a performer who can play 40-45 year old.
LIZZIE (2014) - Lizzie is Sam’s daughter. She is intelligent, opinionated and politically engaged. When she goes on a road trip with her father some home truths come to the fore.
