.....continued on feb 19th ..from Alaska

...im really looking forward to have a lighting design meeting and developing aspects of the set ( to be revealed)...and watching how the techinical aspects of the play come together to enhance what the actors are developing.

One day to mention from this week was the day i asked the actors to bring in objects that they thought had relevance to the play or their character....I attended a course run by Bella Merlin some time ago and we worked on the idea of outside stimulus, in the form of objects, informing a character. I thought it would be interesting to explore this idea with the cast ..and each one in turn , in character, spoke about how the object had come to mean something to them..we edited the objects down to a selected few to incorporate in the design or the play in some way. Some of the photos show that session....it bought a sense of history to the rehearsals with objects representing 30 years of time that have escaped our leading character Deborah, as she has been sleeping, not quite living but never having passed away.

Early on i found some music to inspire us as we tried to capture the mood of the play and now we think weve found something that appears to have been written for the play..without over whelming the text. Thanks to Andy and Lisa, Steve and all the cast for their hard work and for the friends and colleagues who have said they will come and see the show. Hopefully if weve got the publicity right you should start to see posters and flyers being thrust in your direction any day now. 2 weeks to go...and then production week...cant wait.
