The Bacon and egg roll, served with a mug of tea on a saucer, is to be honest, quite brilliant. I seem to have arrived at the cafe during mid morning workmans breakfast. A large group of men in grubby work clothes have just entered and ordered a combination of breakfast and sausage and chips. I am eating at a modern school table next to a gas fire taped to the wall with gaffer tape. The menu reads 'hello girls' in scruffy chalk scrawl and my bacon roll is abreviated to 'Bac Egg'. I decide not to order 'saug' and stay well clear of 'mush'. A fading A1 photograph of breakfaast adorns the wall above the fireplace. I already need the toilet and can't work out if this place has one. Continuing with this tea with the prospect of a further 30 minutes on the bus seems a bit foolish. But I am persisting.
