DEVAGATE - A WHOLE NEW ‘SHOPPING’ EXPERIENCE!

Using a number of Chester’s empty shops as pop-up venues, Devagate will combine the best of Up the Wall and Screen Deva to create an interactive programme of performance and digital art, which celebrates Chester’s history and heritage as a ‘shopping’ city. Deva is the Roman name for the city, and many of the streets are called gates, leading to the old roman gates of the city. We are creating a real but virtual “street” – a set of pop up shops spread around the city.

We are seeking proposals for installation and performance artworks created/adapted specifically for Devagate. Using empty shops as venues, we are looking for artworks and projects, which have a digital technology, film and/ or performance art focus, which can be sited within these pop-up shops. We are also looking for proposals for works that connect these spaces.
