Hi Community,

So following on from the lovely Matt Ball's Blog, I echo Matt's question: What's a Digital Producer anyway?

We had our first meet up last Wednesday and the day went incredibly quickly. It was a day skilfully put together by Katherine and Victoria; we played a get to know you game with John McGrath, had an awesome lunch, drank enough tea to sink a ship and got to know the others who are part of the lab.

Since finding out that I had gained a place on the scheme, I've been asking myself: Why me? Compared to my colleagues I feel a little unexperienced and possibly out of my depth. We have experienced Artists, Film Producers, Theatre Makers, Digital Technologists, Television Producers, Curators . . . All innovative and exciting in their own ways and all really down to earth. Everyone was really welcoming and it was great to hear about everyones' backgrounds. I really look forward to collaborating and learning from everyone. After the day finished I realised that everyone probably felt, at least a little bit, as I did because we are all in the same boat and we are all exploring something new, as Matt said: What's a Digital Producer anyway?

I don't see digital activity becoming a replacement for the real, within my practise so far I have seen it as the two co-existing and having a dialogue. Up until now though, I haven't had the technological knowledge to completely achieve this but through being part of the lab I hope this will change.

If you want to find out more about me and my work to date, have a look at my profile or take a look at my website.

We are all tweeting using the #digiproducer and NTW have set up a storify documenting it.

Looking forward to our week in Bristol!
