Dirty Protest Presents The Real Valleys

Our next event is inspired - if that is the right word by the launch of MTV's The Valleys. We have an amazing line up of pure Valleys talent

The writers are Patrick Jones, Carmen Stephens, Sam Bees, Alun Saunders, Tim Price, Kelsey Richards, Rachel Tresize (cherry popper)

Here's a few words from Tim Price about why we are putting on this night

I'm delighted Dirty Protest is able to offer an alternative view of The Valleys than MTV's crass, sneering and exploitative show MTV The Valleys are Coming.
For anyone who knows the Valleys' history, this is yet another example of big business exploiting the people of this region. Market forces have robbed the valleys of all its resources and the only thing we have left is our pride. And MTV is trying to take that.
I have nothing against the people in the show, in fact, if someone exploited, manipulated and commodified me in my 20s I'm sure I wouldn't look too dissimilar. The people who need to be ashamed of themselves are the producers, who think the only thing young people from the Valleys are good for is humiliating.
Dirty Protest will host a night packed with Valleys talent, with writers, actors and directors all from the Valleys, and we hope to show MTV and its fans that life in the Valleys is more nuanced, complex and rich than MTV's artless effort.

I'm personally glad someone has taken action against this purile tripe that gets passed off as entertainment! My other half is from the valleys and he is outraged at how these people are portrayed on screen. He is jusifyably proud of where he comes from and proud of their history. This crap on MTV had made a reactionary show based on every worst stereotype possible!

I'm off my soap box now,

Rowena
