Yo blog, what's happening? Well, this is our third week of rehearsal and it's all going really well, so far so good. Lots of hard work being done by all and plenty of fun being had too.
Boyd is a legend. What can you say, the guy rocks and the rest of the cast and company are fab too. It's a pleasure being with them and working with them.
Anyway, I've been hoping to write a few lines during the last two weeks, but time has evaded me, so tonight, I'm going to spill the beans!!!
Here's a quick summary of what we been doing; first week we played loads of character building games, games I hadn't played before, which is always cool, then we focused on strengthening what we found and building upon it with voice and movements and weight of the character etc, making each character as clear as possible, sometimes going to the extreme just to explore it. We used the text to identify key moments for the characters and played around with how they would deliver certain lines. That was loads of fun, I love messing around with stuff like that and everyone in the cast has such terrific imaginations that it was a bit of a laugh too.
Then second week we started focusing much heavier on the script. Going through it, getting it up on it's feet and I guess, for me, looking more closely at the story of my characters and what is happening for them during the course of the play.
Which brings us to now, the third week, end of second day. We have managed to get through the entire script, had a run today and it's good to see the play on it's feet and have a through line for the characters and to see the shape of the play thus far. There is still lots of work to do and I'm looking forward to tackling it.
So to re cap, it's been hard work, tiring but immensely enjoyable and fun and I'm looking forward to more of the same.
By the way Oli, no problem regarding kicking a football to my head, but thanks for the very sweet apology, if you continue to share all your hubba bubba's with me i will of course forgive you.
