Which is more important; our need to be individual or our need to belong? Does belief shape our experience or is it the other way round? How important is it for us to create a personal narrative that makes sense?

Using a contemporary play text, Dominic will look at how an understanding of our primal drives can help release deep and detailed work on stage.

Dominic Cooke is an Olivier Award-winning director and playwright, and was Artistic Director of the Royal Court theatre from 2006-13 (presiding over international hits including JerusalemClybourne Park and Enron).  In addition to his directing work, he has written for the RSC and Young Vic, was awarded a CBE for Services to Drama, and holds an Honorary Doctorate in Letters at the University of Warwick. He is currently completing editing Henry VI, pts. 1, 2 & 3 and Richard III for the BBC’s Hollow Crown series.
