If your answer to these questions is yes, we would like to hear from you!

Taking Flight Theatre, Hynt, Theatrau Sir Gar, RCT theatres, Pontio Arts Centre, Bangor University and Disability Arts Cymru are running an Early Career Creatives placement programme.

The programme is part of a larger collaborative project between these partner organisations, provisionally titled Breaking the Box, which focuses on the development of a network of venues and organisations striving towards a more inclusive and accessible outlook to include audiences, companies and individual creatives.

How long?

Each placement will last 9 months, we can be flexible as to the time commitment required.

How will it work?

Each placement will consist of three strands:

  • Bespoke mentoring sessions with a mentor experienced in a creative’s preferred theatre role
  • 3 placements at partner venues
  • A range of professional development opportunities organised by Taking Flight and partner venues (workshops, masterclasses, meetings, networking events, etc).

What does theatre-making skills mean?

Theatre-making skills might include: theatre design, producing, sound design, stage management, marketing, lighting design, directing, writing, fight direction, intimacy direction, BSL interpreting, audio description, composing, or any other creative theatre-making role other than acting.

How many places are there?

There are three paid placements available, however everyone who applies will be invited to join the professional development programme.

Is this a paid opportunity?

Yes, there is a bursary available for each creative of £9,000, plus travel, accommodation and per diems for time away from home.

How do I Apply?

Please send up to 500 words or a video of up to 5 minutes telling us a little bit about yourself,  explaining what theatre skills you want to develop and what you would like to get out of the placement programme.  Please send these to Louise@takingflighttheatre.co.uk by 5pm on 29th November.

If you have any questions about the placements please contact Louise to arrange an informal chat.
