EIGHT MINUTES [Press Release]
--A New Play by Chris Harris--

8th - 10th June (7.15pm) The Studio, Dolman Theatre Newport

'...I'm looking, Staring right into the heart of Friday night. It's pulsating, oozing, bleeding out into the chasms of the city. Into every pore. Overflowing and ripe with full-blown life. 'Time-to-get-the-fuck-on' life...'

Friday night. Cardiff city centre. Owain has finished his exams. Spence has returned home from work. Philip has the night shift on bus 39. Three men in the midst of chaos, noise, colour and euphoria in a modern city full of optimism. Until a single event in time changes their course of their lives.

Eight Minutes is the new play by acclaimed writer Chris Harris, a play about identity, power and violence.

This production is also directed by Harris, who also directed his play Walk on Mars in 2013 at the Aberystwyth Arts Centre.

His previous works include TAITH (Sherman, Cymru); Lovely (The Other Room Theatre, Cardiff) Mutt and Walk on Mars (Aberystwyth Arts Centre); Winona (Abandoned Theatre Co., UK Tour) as well two devised projects for schools through Torfaen Borough Council. He studied at Aberystwyth University.
Newport Playgoers Society owns and operates the 400-seater Dolman Theatre in the heart of the city of Newport in South Wales. The theatre was purpose built for Playgoers in 1967, following a re-development of that included the demolition of the previous theatre, known as The Newport Little Theatre, which was housed in a converted church.
With a 400 seater auditorium, 38 foot pros arch stage, three large rehearsal rooms, orchestra pit, bar, box-office, cafeteria, council room, extensive dressing-rooms, and newly furnished 60 seater studio, the Dolman Theatre offers facilities for all theatrical styles, and is a hub for the performing arts in South East Wales.
