The Emerging Director position is a brilliant opportunity for new directors to spend some time working side by side with more experienced directors. Back in Sep Siwan Llynor supported Louise Ann Wilson on The Gathering/Yr Helfa (have a look at her blog posts here to find out what she was getting up to).

The Emerging Director is a full-time role and a key component of the creative team. It requires attendance at all rehearsals, the production week and all performances. There may well be opportunities to be involved in production meetings prior to the official start date of the project.

The next opportunity for an Emerging Director will be on (150). A project that will see Wales' two national theatre companies - National Theatre Wales and Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru – come together for the very first time, working with one of the country's leading artists Marc Rees as Creative Director.  

(150) will examine some of the key moments in the story of how 150 Welshmen came to settle in Patagonia in 1865, and what has become of their descendants today. It will be performed in English, Welsh and Spanish, using dance, performance and film.

This multi-platform production will be staged in the breathtaking Royal Opera House stores near Aberdare - a vast building not normally open to the public.

For this particular project we are looking for someone with an interest in working across the art forms outlined above. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable.

National Theatre Wales and Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru are offering a £2000 bursary for this position. This should cover any travel, accommodation and subsistence costs incurred as a result of taking on the role. NTW will strive to help find the best solution to travel and accommodation if you are not based locally.
