Who are we?

We are Empty Pocket Theatre, a group of aspiring writers, actors, theatre-makers, founded by Anna Poole and Natalie Stone.

It all began a year ago when two young writer/directors were united through the Sherman writers group and involved in a forming a script for the Springboard 2011. Soon after graduating in ‘10 they were thrown out into the big bad scary world to find a job. Unfortunately this was easier said than done and after a sea of rejection letters streamed through their doors every morning they realised they had two options: wallow in self-pity and become crazy cat ladies OR convert these unwanted unpleasantries into creativity.  And so the fittingly titled ‘Can I Have A Job Please?’ was born. Quickly they fled the streets for willing actors and got it up and running in record time. 10 Feet Tall were the heroes of the tale letting the bewildered ladies have a stab at conjuring up an audience in their venue. After a nail-biting hour they watched on crossing their fingers for a slight titter from the audience and muttered a small prayer that they all stayed put. Incredibly it all went swimmingly and thus the creation of Empty Pocket Theatre emerged.

Since then we have learned a lot, written a lot, put a few things on and decided to keep doing what we love.

Now we feel it is time to make ourselves a little more known and meet other creatives. Fresh out of University we are trying to find our identities through creativity and are always looking to collaborate with any like-minded groups or individuals.

We are inspired by all that National Theatre Wales created over year one and where thrilled at what is to come during Y2. We are keen to be part of this new, exciting creative outlet Wales now has to offer.

Please look out for updates on our new exciting project [On] Stage. This is our largest project to date – where two new plays will go head to head in a one-night showdown of creativity.
