ENTDECKUNGEN/ DISCOVER GERMAN THEATRE

On Sunday 7th June at 7.15pm Theatr Iolo is presenting rehearsed readings of two exciting contemporary German plays in translation.

KLAMM'S WAR by Kai Hensel ( translated by Mario Golden and Andreas Robertz)
Directed by Caroline Bunce. Performed by John Norton.

Klamm enters his classroom and is confronted by a wall of silence. His students have declared war, blaming him for what happened to a fellow pupil. Can Klamm defend himself? This elegant award winning monologue grapples with the constraints of institutions which turn pupils and teachers into mortal enemies.

VISITING KATT AND FREDDA by Ingeborg von Zadow ( translated by the author)
Directed by Kevin Lewis. Performers - Hannah McPake, Lucy Rivers and Eiry Hughes.

A comical tragic study of the joys and terrors of friendship.

Following the readings there will be a post show discussion with Henning Fangauf whose job is to support and promote German writing for young people.

For anyone interested tickets are available price £3 from Sherman box office 029 2064 6900 or on the door. Also there are a few places for the workshop for observers or participants where we will be exploring scenes from some other contemporary German texts. Contact me here if you want more info or are interested in attending.
