Fantastic success at Edinburgh for Welsh company

Great news! The Herald Newspaper awarded a coveted “Herald Angel Award” to Shock n Awe Performance Co., for their groundbreaking production, “Muscle”.

After trial sell-out runs at Chapter Arts Centre in their home city of Cardiff the company have taken “Muscle” their first ever production to the madness that is the Edinburgh Festival. With nearly three thousand shows, forty thousand performances and people travelling from all over the world, the competition is fierce and can be both heart and finance breaking.

So the fact that this independent Welsh Company have won one of the major festival awards if quite remarkable. Unlike some awards the “Herald Angels” cover both the Fringe and International festivals and all art forms from literature to music, art to theatre. Only fifteen awards are made annually.

What’s more “Muscle” has been picking up four and five star reviews everyday variously calling the show, “Astounding!”, “An outstanding piece with a very strong cast”, “It’s swaggeringly, gleefully funny, yet its as achingly sad”, “intelligent, beautiful and very personal”, “Exceptionally well performed by the multi-talented ensemble”.

Yep, really good news Sybil.

I saw the show at Chapter and thoroughly enjoyed it. Greg and the guys really stuck their necks out as well as digging deep financially so this is a real vindication of their faith in their work.
