Free Workshops available at Unity Festival 2012

 

June 21st - June 30th 2012

Our fifth annual Unity Festival will run over 10 days this summer, and feature 30 different companies and artists from 9 different countries, spanning three continents. For further info please download the guide here: Unity Festival Guide

As always alongside our performance programme we will be offering a series of free workshops delivered by many of the companies taking part in the festival. These workshops are accessed via an application process which is available by email to unity@hijinx.org.uk 

 This year we are offering the following workshops via application. Places will be offered via a first come first serve basis, though we will also be assessing suitability of applicants for each workshop form your application. Hijinx Theatre (Wales)

Friday 22nd June

10am - 1pm

Urdd Hall, WMC

A look at the process behind the creation of Hijinx Theatre's next touring production with Director James Williams and Writer Glenys Evans

Taking Flight Theatre Company (Wales)

Monday 25th June

10am - 4pm

Japan Room, WMC

A silent comedy workshop, involving slapstick and physical comedy.

Tuesday 26th June

10am - 4pm

Inclusive Dance workshop based around sequences from the company's performance of SPUN Productions (performing at the festival on Wednesday the 27th June)

Jose Galan and Danza Mobile (Spain)

Wednesday 27th June

Urdd Hall, WMC

Jose Galan and flamenco dancers from Danza Mobile will teach participants this most traditional of Spanish dances.

Grupo Dancando com a Diferenca (Portugal)

Thursday 28th June

Practical look at how this company works, includes contact improvisation and laban techniques.

Ramesh Meyyappan leads a masterclass in using mime and sign mime in performance.

Last chance this week to apply for all the free workshops taking place at Unity 2012 - all apps in by Friday please!
