Devised Educational Theatre on the importance of social distancing as well as supporting those who are isolated and vulnerable.
Suzi MacGregor and Myself, Angharad Tudor. are both multi-disciplinary performers from West Wales, who have found ourselves back in their hometown of St David's during the Covid-19 lockdown. We both specialise in facilitating various community arts projects.
As performers and community arts organisers we have suddenly found themselves out of work due to the current Covid Crisis, We were presented with the challenge of how to entertain and amplify community spirit whilst adhering to physical distancing rules and strict government guidelines. After much deliberation and through the well wishes of our local community that it was possible to devise a short clowning routine to take out into the community once a week as part of of our exercise. It is our hope to uplift spirits and improve wellbeing to isolated children, their parents, the elderly and vulnerable adults in the community a little giggle to brighten their week and break up routine.
From someone who has ADHD & Dyslexia I personally understands how the lockdown can affect mental health to those with similar disorders, especially young children with autism. The arts are important for wellbeing, noticeably reducing anxiety and depression, which we have seen a significant increase since lockdown was implemented. Exercising only once a day can also be extremely difficult for those who have learning disabilities and mental health problems, We hope to bring a small window of levity to those who feel isolated for reasons beyond the lockdown.
So Here it is...Front Lawn Fools
Front Lawn Fools walk their suitcases of silly-ness to local families, educating the little ones (and the big ones!) on social distancing – with tape measure, hand sanitiser and some ridiculous busking skills in tow. It doesn't matter if you don't have a front garden – as long as you can see from your window they will find a way to fool about, at a safe distance! It's like an old-school home visit from the local jesters- inviting some innocence, Laughter and lightness into the local community.
We have been running the project for over 2 weeks and the responses have been wonderful!

Best Wishes,
